Once upon a time, employers valued the employee who showed initiative. Now, employees are afraid to volunteer or make suggestions, because if the ideas don’t work out, they will be blamed…
It’s obvious none of you have had to put together a window display from scratch, and with no money.Elly is probably writing letters to people to ask for the loan of props for the window, such as antique-looking furniture, clothing, eyeglasses, etc.
Our main library has maybe 5 people in the children’s department, so that makes sense to me. Elly seems to get the behind-the-scenes stuff, mostly, or that’s what they show.
I did the same thing Elly did. After being home for 10 years, unable to do anything visible, the chance to have a church Christmas pageant or extra school reading or math groups is just very exciting, fulfilling, and actually uses brain power and organisational ability. It’s so fun and enjoyable, that you WANT to do it, and most of the time, it’s great!- but it’s easy for too many things to hit at the same time, especially this time of year.
Lynn and I apparently have something in common. Except I haven’t learned yet what she has. Maybe 20 years from now, I’ll be there. Right now, I’m right where Elly is in the comics, with my youngest starting K this year, and so thrilled to get out of the house and DO stuff <3
And of course the only thing that ever matters to you is anything that’s the opposite of whatever a female character is doing or wants to do. Yeah,we get you, hater…

Once you begin to open your mouth, it would take a ten-foot pole to keep it open… ;)

What IS that thing she’s working on? A typewriter? WOW. These must be old comics.

I was under the impression that Elly also wrote a column for a local newspaper.

Didn’t Elly quit her volunteer columnist position when she got the paying job at the library?

It’s not my big mouth that makes me say “yes” to all that extra work, it’s usually the caffeine high at the time.

Does she ever read the comments posted here? Wiley Miller sometimes responds to comments, but I’ve never seen Lynn respond to anything posted here…

But she may have written that note two years ago.
