Chain smoke. Makes the holiday much shorter.

If he wants to do something, play with the grandchildren. His loss if he thinks that takes too much energy.

Get rid of that cigarette…it’ll take years to recover. Start now by finding things to do like you say you want to do!!! ;)

I’m old enough to remember when everyone smoked, Indoors, At the Movies, In the Supermarket. In the Dr’s Office!Thank goodness those days are gone, Now people can kill themselves in the privacy of their own homes!

I was once guided by the waiter to a “non-smoking” table that was between three “smoking” tables. They were unclear on the concept.

They allowed smoking on airlines….hard to believe that now!

I’m surprised how our focus for this strip is on the cigarette, but I agree. I have seen too much tragedy (including the loss of friends and a mother-in-law) come from smoking. Thanks for the reality check, guys.

Try reading the comics.

30 years ago they must have had anti-gravity cigarettes.

Canadians and Brits (and I suppose other commonwealth) use the words holiday or holidays not only for official days off (like Canada Day, Victoria Day) but also in place of the word vacation. (They often reserve the word “vacation” for use only when it involves a trip); When I moved from Canada to the US, the words “summer holidays” disappeared and everyone used “summer vacation.”

And of course, “holiday”, like “hospital” often had no article in from. {"Lynn’s in hospital" and “Where did Mike go on holiday”)

Being retired I can relate to this. Sometimes I wish for the hectic times of yore.

Retiring is not all fun and games. If your eyes deteriorate (from macular degeneration, for instance) you’ll find out retiring and not being able to drive anymore makes for a pretty drab life. Kinda’ like ‘house arrest.’

I honestly can’t figure out how I ever found time to work, and that still after having to cut down on my golf!

My hubby gave up on work too early for my part at 62. He is much older. I was still working pt for county DOC for 9 years let go. Hubby stays busy. He does not miss work. Smoking laws have change for public places for the best. People at home smoke outside due to home insurance policy.

I was kinda hoping for a “Lynn’s Note” about how she’s liking retirement.

Another thing that never gets mentioned about the smell of vaping is that bad breath from someone who normally breathes through their nose is now blowing in the wind. With enough of these mouth breathers (or someone with really bad breath) in a confined space it will stink in a confined area.

How about stop smoking. That’ll give you plenty to do.

Quit harping on smoking ye self righteous ….without any sins….

I think Dad is just bored at being away from home.Back home he had all this things (tools, fishing poles, whatever), and at Elly’s house, he doesn’t have ‘his stuff.’

No Smoking in the house please …don’t care what year it was!!!!

You are not alone in that sentiment. I was wondering how I had time for a career.

I’ll avoid another comment on the magic flying cigarette.Not only did we have smoking everywhere — I can (albeit just barely) remember ads featuring doctors recommending x brand of cigarettes – usually with the additional comment that they were “mild”.

A person, I don’t care how old, has to feel useful.
