My dog howled whenever someone was playing the piano, but if we played an LP of a piano concerto she never uttered a sound.
I thought the object of training ‘Farley’ was to get him to ‘sit’ and ‘stay’. I don’t recall ‘hearing’ anything about getting him to stop ‘howling’.
Our Maxwell would howl when I practiced bagpipes, but loved my tenor & 5-string banjo songs.
Lynn’s Notes:Sadly, we never did celebrate success with the real Farley. In the comic strip, however, the outcome to every scenario was up to me, so cartoon Farley was an obedient, and even rather smart, companion.

Of course he’s howling. They went inside without him!
