Even if that is just a regular tanktop she can still swim in it, can’t she? It’s just a lake. I’ve seen people at lakes swimming in just plain shorts and tshirts.

The most spectacular thing I ever forgot happened when I masterminded a trip to the beach for our denomination’s student union while at Florida State U. in Tallahassee. We went to Alligator Point, which is on the Gulf of Mexico, 37 miles south of the college. I’d arranged for us to have a lot of neat stuff – Food, drinks, napkins, plastic tablecloths, cups, plates. However, there was no silverware (or plasticware). We had to use rather fragile potato chips to shovel in our baked beans, potato salad, etc. I got ribbed for that.
Lynn’s Notes: I have only been through Hope twice, but I don’t recall it being desert. I have hung tents from trees many times – intentionally from the start. However, my four pound ten ounce two person design includes tent, poles, stakes, rope, and bags to hold it all, in that figure.
Now I have “master lists” for every occasion, that I made up, years ago, and I follow them every time we leave the house. Saves a lot time when packing, that’s for sure.
BTW, I think Elly is so exasperated, that she forgot she’s wearing her bathing suit… It seems to me, since in the third last panel, it looks like she has it on.
Regardless of the apparent swimsuit third panel from the end, this actually happened to a friend of mine, and we were in Chincoteague, VA, while home was north of Baltimore. We got all the way there, she realized she’d packed swimsuits for her kids but forgot her own. Husband called his office, instructed one of his workers (who was also a personal friend of the family and apparently taking care of the pets, as she had a key to the house) where to look in the house for her swimsuit, and to bring it to the office, put it into an overnight FedEx box and ship it to them at the beach. She had the swimsuit in roughly 24 hours.

Bathing suits don’t normally have belts – so my guess is the colorist goofed. I’ved heard enough funny stories of them doing it in other older comics!
