When this strip was first released, it was OK to give your kid a good whack on the seat, but not now. We updated it by removing the stars in the last panel, suggesting that Michael had been given a time out.
She should have put it away. I would have bought another copy and also kept the one Michael drew on – kids grow up so fast! My oldest biological son just turned 20 yesterday.
I made a peice of furnature for my wife. A friend was a hobby cabinent maker and I bought the materials for 2. I worked on that for about 10 saturdays – come Christmas she couldn’t believe it, she cried. That afternoon, my 3 year old was personallizing it with crayons, markers and pens. That was my turn to cry.
Don’t get mad, get even. Find his most prized posession, one that can’t be replaced and break it beyond repair. Best to do this while he’s still young and reformable. Just because he’s your son doesn’t mean you have to let him treat you and your property like sh-t.
I have been looking through these strips and have yet to find any statements akin to “Michael sure pays attention to the world around him” or “Michael is courteous to his family and classmates”. What Michael did was immature, with no regards for his mother’s accomplishments. The spanking was deserved.
trying to remember the 9/11 strip. As I recall it was something like this*
Sorry, but Lynn did not have a “9/11” strip until November 11 (Remembrance Day in Canada/Veteran’s Day in the US), and that was about April buying a paper poppy from Grandpa Jim with the final panel being her remembering the Twin Towers. The September 11, 2001 strip was about Mike and Deanna’s wedding preparations. Considering the lead time required for print comics, there would have been no way to have such a strip on the day it happened.
AliComI never had to drop to their maturity level. I just explained to them the difference between a model and a toy, and just as I would not risk damaging their toys by playing with them, they should not play with my models. Never had any problems. In fact, by daughter became professional quality modeler and contest judge. Saying “at my age, I refuse to make a papier maché dinosaur”, she once got 450 out of a possible 300 points for a high school geology class scratch-built eohippus (the teacher was a modeler and knew what went into it).
The poster you are responding to has been telling everyone for a very long time that his mother mistreated him, and he interprets the whole world as filled with women who are only interested in other women, never in men.
He needs serious help, but won’t get it, preferring to wallow in his anger and hatred.

I wouldn’t have had the time to scream….I would have been too busy crying about the damage. Then I’d think about it and get over it.
