No studs. And no earrings, either.

Exactly! Too bad many immediately say NO! without getting more information.

Still saying “gots”. For heavens sake, correct her! And we went from one girl to all the girls in her class now have “studs” when we talk to good old dad!

Since Mom and Dad pay for what you wear, you are dependent on them. If they said no, it means no. As the old saying goes “you eat my bread, you do my will”.

I know plenty of fathers (both married and unmarried) who do that. It usually when either A) the father doesn’t want to deal with the situation or B) the father is tired or exasperated.

Okay, I get that it’s Elly’s choice whether or not Lizzie gets her ears pierced. But I can also understand why Lizzie is upset. How is a 6 year old supposed to believe a parent telling her she’s “too young” to have pierced ears when she sees other girls her age have them. Is it any wonder she’s yelling "No Fair!’ One more thing of note. Lizzie, at least for the next few years until April comes along, is still “the baby.” And Elly wouldn’t be the first mom to have trouble when her baby starts growing up.

kittygatosI have been told that the Japanese continue the use of kanji (modified Chinese characters, one squiggle, one word) rather than kana (one squiggle, one syllable) because of the high rate of homonyms, making puns difficult in written form.

I know a sure fire way to shut the teasing for pierced ears up…take her to do it. The first piercing of the one ear will probably be all it takes to have her leave and give up the idea. And crying that it hurts!

Oh give me a break -she is a little girl. Daddy-O is the one with a few screws loose if he’s misinterpreting studs at this age.

In fact, his misinterpretation is downright creepy.
