It can be scary! Most kids don’t like to be on display in front of dozens of people. Mine will never do this job, and they miss getting to wear the dresses, but they don’t miss that!
The bridesmaids follow the bride down the aisle, at least in England and Australia. And the groom is already at the altar and doesn’t walk down the aisle at all.
At my wedding, in 1952, the flower girl led the way out of church, scattering rose petals at my and my groom’s feet. Our marriage was very happy – he died just after our 53rd anniversary.

Bride coming down the isle with her father, preceded by the bridal party is a custom among some Christian denominations..In the Eastern Orthodox Christian, the Greek Catholic or Coptic traditions, for example, the father does not give away the daughter and the bridal party does not precede the bride. The couple enters the church together as a married couple already, since they are married at the back in the vestibule. They follow the priest, then the parents follow the couple and then the bridal party comes in last. I’ve seen “flower girls” and “ring bearer” boys at those ceremonies but they are usually led in by the maid of honor and the best man, and the children are right away seated with their parents.
when i first got married it was in vegas and it sucked.. my next one is going to be fancy :)I dont remember Georgia and Phil’s wedding in the strips before so this should be good
At my niece’s wedding, the flower girl followed the bride and her father down the aisle. Might have been a good idea to have her walk with her mom, the bride’s sister. My mom says, "I thought the flower girl came before the bride, not after. I told her “Your great-granddaughter dances to the beat of her own drum.”

Not kind of “first”, Elizabeth. Your official “first to come down the aisle” won’t happen until many, many years later.

No, the bride is always last to come down the aisle.

I, for one, am sick of attending fancy weddings, only to learn that the pair has split up a few years later.

They could have two flower girls. that way they could walk together. Strength in numbers! OR she could walk with the ring bearer. :)

Best friend’s flowergirl decided to march to her own drummer and never did go down the aisle but wandered off somewhere.

The first one down the aisle is the Maid of Honor. The flowergirl doesn’t come down until just before the bride.

JennyJenkinsInteresting, but where do the crown bearers fit in all this?
