Ironically Mike gets the response he should have wanted when he wrote his note to Martha, but now he can’t accept it because Martha failed his loyalty test. If he didn’t have those rules about absolute secrecy in relationships, this might have been a happy moment for him.
On the other hand, as a fan of the strip, I am delighted to see that Michael has picked up his mother’s habit of screaming in public. It’s so sweet to see a child adopting the life skills that his mother has been trying so hard to teach him. As long-time readers know, that screaming will serve Michael well in the future.
This is the answer he should have gotten if Martha didn’t betray him by showing the letter to her girlfriends. People wonder why I don’t like Martha, this is one of the reasons why. She’s cute but there’s not one bit of loyalty in her and she will continue to show this loyalty throughout their relationship, especially with Mike heading to the farm in later years (spoiler)
Did none of you grow up when passing notes got you in heaps and heaps of trouble? Since several people know about the note, surely somebody would have told on them by now and they would have been on the way to the principal’s office. Writing notes was the thing that got me in the biggest trouble in my school days.
I could never abide by the “kiss and boast” guys. I respected women; perhaps that is why I was so unpopular with them. They kept going back to the disrespecters. At least that gave them something to complain about.
This illustrates the fundamental difference in how girls and boys; men and women think! A source of conflict that drives separations, breakups and divorces.

This is a school, not Love Connection. Try doing some schoolwork for a change.
