This strip is the closest one for me to actual middle school behaviour as Janet intercedes with Michael on behalf of Martha. That is what I remember middle schoolers doing from my days in middle school.
For whatever reason, Janet sets up Martha for an exercise in public humiliation. Meet Michael by the trophy case because we know what that means – sports metaphors!! I can just see it now:
1.The ball’s in your court now Michael and you don’t want to drop the ball. You want to get the ball rolling with Martha.
2.If you are not careful Martha, Michael will drop the gloves, come out swinging and put you down for the count.
3.I told him to meet me at 12:30 and he got there just under the wire.
4.Dating Martha would be a slum dunk.
5.Good thing Martha has Megan and Janet in her corner or she might get sucker punched.
6.Will Michael score a goal with Martha or will he throw in the towel?
In my experience teachers only “catch” those that they want to “catch”. Present the proper appearance of behavior 99% of the time and the other 1% you can be home free as long as you don’t slap them in the face with the not so proper behavior.
1. Michael should send kinder messages. Saying that he doesn’t care could be very hurtful. 2. Why doesn’t the note say that Martha loves him, not likes him?

Interesting how the teacher isn’t catching Michael and Janet passing notes.

…to sit on, or to talk to? Perhaps this gave Clint Eastwood the idea for his speech at the Republican convention in 2012.

Savage Michael is savage lol. Also, why is Janet talking to Michael, why isn’t Martha doing it since it’s her fault?
