Her skirt must be so voluminous that she is not feeling any tug of the fabric stuck in the door.

Have seen it a number of times, & managed to tell a few. Dangerous if in an accident & your clothes are jammed in the door.

Not sure if I ever had it sticking out, but I do remember having to gather my skirt up in clumps so I can shut the door.

And I have seen men who got their raincoats stuck in car doors. So it can happen to anyone…

I have one skirt I have to be very careful about gathering all of it before shutting the door.

Drove a sports car for a week while truck being fixed. I felt like my butt was on the street. But still neat to drive it around.

So big deal if her skirt is caught in the door. Unless its raining or the roads are sloppy, it won’t hurt a thing (trust me, I know). It really isn’t anyone else’s concern, and trying to get her attention for something so mundane is likely to cause an accident.

I had a Lotus Europa for six years when I was a carefree bachelor. Driving with my eyes about 30 inches above the road was a trip! Realizing a head-on collision was fatal at almost any speed… a different sort of trip. One day some guy accidentally backed up onto the front of the car, stopping with his bumper inches from the windshield.

    Lynn’s Notes:

This really happened. It was a coat, actually, and I wrecked it. Being a cartoonist was a good thing. When something like this happened, I got a daily strip out of it …which really offset the misery!

Maybe she will catch on when her skirt rips off, then Elly is walking around in her panties.

This is not nearly as bad ss getting the back of your skirt caught in your pantyhose

Guilty. Coffee on top of the car, sunglasses on the hood and a BBQ cover on the trunk. Not at once.

We drove a little 2 seater sports car for many years. It really was like sitting on the ground sometimes. We’ve also recently been driving a class A motor home (the one that looks like a bus.) After driving that for a while, any car feels like you are sitting on the ground.

Years ago, I was working (Pharmacist) in a very busy drug store and I bent down to pick up a box of Rx bottles and heard and felt a loud ripping noise; it was my pants split open from the zipper all the way to the belt. What to do, What to do? I side stepped with my back side against the wall to the rest room about 60 feet away with all the customers watching and got into the rest room and used a heavy duty stapler to staple up the seam from the inside. Worked perfectly but couldn’t sit down without getting jabbed with staples!

So she’s a "nitwit " for not noticing? Lovely attitude. If that car was really interested in letting her know, the passenger would have opened the window and hollered at her.

One day after parking my car I happened to see a car pulling in. Some apparent fabric or material was hanging out the driver door. After the lady (no passengers) exited the car I told her what I saw and said I hoped nothing was torn. She said no, but she wondered why she seemed to have trouble moving about. She was not wearing a coat. The day was pleasant and sunny. However coat or no coat vehicles are not designed for visibility along or around driver doors. Naturally driving, though first priority, is a distraction.

The car has changed since the last time we saw it. John’s sports car used to be a T-top convertible two-seater. Panels 2 and 3 show that it is not a T-top and it appears to have a bench seat behind Elly in Panel 3.

A cartoon from years ago showed a teen leaving for school with the seat of her skirt ripped open. The mother is pointing it out in alarm, but her father is saying, “I was going to mention it, but I was afraid it might be the latest style.”

That happens as I have gotten my sweater coat caught in car door. Fortunately, when I was the passenger I would open the door to pull my coat in.
