If you ask more nicely, Michael, with “please” and no insults, maybe she’ll let you in. (I’ve always been wondering how come WIlma never answered the door banging and yelling from Fred after the saber-toothed cat locked him out each and every night.)

Michael do you really think insulting her will motivate her to open the door for you? This is the time to say nice things. But it’s too late. I hope you’re stuck out on that stoop for an hour waiting for the parents to come home.

I’m with Elizabeth here. It isn’t wise to insult the only person who can let you in. I hope he gets wet from the rain, so he’ll learn his lesson.

Isn’t Lizzie too young to be left alone with no adult home? In today’s world, God forbid something happened, the parents would be in deep trouble. That said, my mother worked and my brother and I were left alone after school until she came home from work (we were 6 and 7)….so for about 3 hours. Key was hidden outside; we let ourselves in. But we DID have disasters that included death of a pet and once a doctor visit for stitches…. This was early 1960s.

Uhm, it doesn’t help calling her names when you need her help. Stoopid.

Michael should have been alot nicer to Elizabeth! Calling her insulting bad names like Elizabutt and E-lizardbreath shall backfire on him :)

I was thinking I hadn’t heard “lizard breath” much if at all yet, and here is Lynn

Lynn’s Comments: Girls with the name “Elizabeth” did not appreciate this strip. I recently heard from a reader who said that after all these years, her brother still calls her “lizard breath!”

Maybe she would have opened the door if Michael had been nicer.

I have to admit, ‘doorknob’ is a pretty funny insult. I’ll have to work that into my rotation.

Keep it up Elizabeth… remember when he called you “four-eyes” a few days ago? Maybe you should just go take a nap. If you do let him in, he may become violent towards you…
