“I am sorry” is a phrase that is used to express regret or remorse for actions. “I apologize” is a way to formally admit that you did something wrong, whether you feel “sorry” about it or not. I guess Elizabeth is going for the one of those that she thinks she is more likely to get out of Michael. I think she has the right of it.

I wouldn’t trust an “I’m sorry” from Michael, truth to tell. Too big of a chance he’d soon backslide and start haranguing Elizabeth again.

Once a wall goes up, it is difficult to get around, but left alone it will, eventually, become useless.

It’s a big, beautiful wall! And Michael’s gonna pay for it.

Methinks Michael doesn’t like being ignored.

I don’t like it when parents force their kids to say they are sorry for something they did, when the child is not sorry at all. It teaches the child to lie.

Since this strip is taken from Lynn Johnston’s real family, one must wonder if her three kids fought like the Arabs and the Jews.
