when I visited my older brother in New Jersey last summer, I felt the same way when my nephew was crying at night when trying to sleep

Now me, I always wondered how anyone with such small lungs can make so much loud noise and screams?

She grew! And sure s crying a lot. My sons loved baths as newborns ans never minded diapers being changed. Maybe Elly needs to be more engaged with her youngest. Sing something, caress her, take her legs and make bicycle movements while changing diaper, etc. Looks like Elly is just going through the motions, listening to her wail, not enjoying her brand new baby. She is lucky – she has two older children who are on her heels, begging for her attention, asking her to make them meals, put drinks, to come and play with them, etc, so taking care of April should not be too hard. I know at her age, it is not the same as being in her twenties. My grandkids tire me out after an hour.

Reading some of these posts, perhaps April – and Elly – aren’t the only ones who need naps. ;)

You’re so tired, because you never get a chance to sleep undisturbed. :P

Hm. She’s raising a teenager, a tween, doing the bulk of the dog-caring, managing the house, cooking the meals, and doing the bulk of the baby care. I’d say she has every right to be tired and not be slagged off for it.

Is being 38 so old (not there yet)? The way people talk, is 38 the new 68?

is it hygenic to bathe a baby in a kitchen sink?

She already knows this, having had two kids already. I’m just surprised Elizabeth and Michael aren’t helping to care for April. I got roped into caring for my baby sister within days of her birth!

Small kids are a energy Siphon and take all the energy from the room. So any adult that is in the room ends up being tired.

As I have often said, this is why young people are the ones who have the babies.

Yes – when my wife and I had our second child at 43, we understood why it is best to have kids while you are young. You are much less tolerant to put up with things.

Why would a new mom be tired? She just gave birth and her body is still recovering. She is nursing. She is hardly sleeping. She is taking care of the baby’s physical needs. Her ears are attuned to the baby 24/7. She is trying—oh trying!— to meet the needs of the rest of the family. Why oh why would she be tired?
