I told my preschool students, when outside in the playground they could yell all they wanted but NOT SCREAM. Then I demonstrated. Yelling meant words, Screaming mean ear piercing sounds. They were good kids and did their best to please me and not break my ears.
I am a nanny and the girl recently went through this phase. I like to think I am calm, understanding, and professional, however after a couple weeks of random top of lungs screaming I decided for the sake of my eardrums it just needed to be nipped in the bud! (I pretended to be calm though ;)
