Yeah, Tower, whenever I want scientific accuracy instead of humor, I always go to the Foxtrot strip.Sigh.

Odd isn’t it? Some folk mistake a “comic” strip for a “reality” strip.

This should be an Olympic event — think how many twists and spins and twirls and tricks they could do on the way down!

The description on the very page I read the comic says: “FoxTrot is a comic strip with attitude, wit and a big dose of reality.” So, just a big dose, not a literal adherence to reality.Flame on!

Actually, Bill Amend has a bachelor’s degree in physics. This shows in some of his strips where, for instance, Jason calculates the trajectory of a rock thrown by a catapult — Amend uses the REAL equations that solve the problem, unlike most cartoonists. But he IS a cartoonist, so the humor is what is most important.

I’m pretty sure “Mythbusters” did a show testing just how many ordinary helium balloons it took to lift a child off the ground. They ended up using several hundred. They also did a test to find out if a football filled with helium travels better than one filled with air. No difference.

I would recommend against MSNBC, or CNN or any broadcast network as well.

If Jason is suspended there, all it takes is a breeze and he’ll drift away – into the path of a truck or bus.

Totally unrealistic!…. Where can you find a public pool with a high dive anymore…Not in Arizona :)

should have used Hydrogen. Gives an even better lift, and is a renewable resource! Unlike Helium, which has an artificially low pricepoint.

Roger’s grill is visible from space and an air traffic hazard, and you’re concerned about the pool toy being insufficiently buoyant?

What’s wrong with just laughing at the boys instead of analyzing the possibilities of the science in this? Geez. Some of you sure sucked the fun out of this one today.

Theoretically with -22% of your body weight in helium and a stride frequency of 1.920 HZ ±0.068 you could stay on top of the water with flippers
