Honestly, I would have run away from home over that ( I didn’t have much sense as a kid), and I would have done it again and again until she got the message or I got placed somewhere else! That is ridiculous!
Has it ever been established just why Andy keeps the house so cold? Is it a money issue? Environmental? Hot flashes? And she’s aware of what she’s doing; there was one strip where she put a turkey into the refrigerator because it defrosts faster than leaving it out.
I use those electric infrared heaters. They blow forced hot air, and heat much more efficiently than standard element heaters. Plus they keep my furnace from kicking on all day.
Natural gas now is at some of the lowest costs in recent history. It’s my least concerning utility cost, and I use all has appliances. With all the kids moved out I don’t have to worry about all the dial tuners.
Sacramento, 48 low, 60 high, pool pump and pool sweep set to run about four hours during winter, have double pane windows, heater set for 68 at night, 73 daytime, electric bill about $180, gas about $80, but only $15 in the summer, Four bedroom, tankless water heater, LED lights, one TV.

That’s why they make programmable thermostats, and tamper proof plexiglass covers. It’s also why they make goofy looking Winter sweaters Paige …

it is cold in my bedroom, Mom. Not cold like I should put another blanket on the bed. Cold like one of my arms just snapped off.

Since the temps went down to between the 70’s an 40’s I turn off my A/C.
