The end credits rolling from bottom to the top of the television screen. Remember, this was in the days before the Networks (and local TV)
started squeezing them to bottom or the right of the screen to show promotions of upcoming programs. That’s because today’s viewers have microscopic attention spans. They could care less about the production companies that makes those TV series possible. Some of us still do.
Nope. The joke is that he’s literally following the ups and downs of the stock market on “Wall Street Wrap-Up.” It has nothing to do with the end credits.
Looks like Amend just made a small mistake here. Considering that we all believe that Peter carries his lunch to school in a twenty pound sack, this is not a problem for me. It is very funny, and surprisingly timely.
If this was written 10 years ago, then it would have been during the extreme fluctuations caused by the enormous dot-com boom and subsequent bust. There were violent stock market swings at that time.
Today, Roger would have gone from staring at the bottom of the TV screen to staring at his shoes and then going down to the basement to dig a deep hole.
treBsdrawkcaB: I have to disagree. The market has been going up as much as going down. The fluctuations have been extreme, but they average out to a pretty good slope. It think the DJI has risen almost 9% this past year. So Dad’s up and down head bobbing is right on the mark.
Job situation stinks, house prices are low, and businesses are failing, so the economy is bad; but the market is up.

He might well be praying. Lord knows more than one person has sent up a plea or two when told of the current economic state. lol
J/k. Yeah, he’s supposed to be watching the market go up and down, but the TV’s in all the wrong place.
