I’m pretty sure the tie won’t show up on Jason for a few years, yet ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dilbert_(character)#Physical_appearance )

The Simpsons had been out for some time at this point, I think. It started as a comic book strip, then landed on a tv show as small clips… now its jumped the shark at least a couple of times in it tv series.

It was never a comic strip, it started as a segment on the Tracy Ullman Show

Okay. I thought it’d be Adams’ birthday or the anniversary of “Dilbert” today, but no.

I had no idea what jump the shark meant, but now, thanks to the magic of comics and Google, I do.

The Simpsns were crudely drwan skits on the Tracey Ullamn SHow. Dan and Julia were cats members. Theyw ere a hit, sio FOX took a chance (Best. Move EVER!) and gave them a half hour prime time series. Everybody loved them, the animation grew betetr,a nd they eventually got their own comic books eries by Bongo (cameoed last night.) The only real difference over the years ( besides severald ead characters and Troy McClure and Lionel Huntz disappearing) is the focus shifted from Bart to Homer. They are so popular, one yera FOX aired them 3 times in syndication.

Now, when will we get a Foxtrot animated series?

@TrapperJohn: re: Jumping the Shark. Which is funny that the Simpsons have been able to pull it off several times.

Oh, and since the comic book “Life in Hell” wasn’t officially The Simpsons, my mistake.
