ATTENTION Roger Fox! This is your FINAL DIRE URGENT IMPERATIVE NOTIFICATION that your subscription to our magazine is ABOUT TO EXPIRE!
Roger: Sweetheart! I needed the checkbook.
ATTENTION Roger Fox!
Good timing - just got one of those letters yesterday. I put it where it belongs. In the round file, because I imperatively refuse to pay until two months before the subscription expires.
Who knows if the company sending those notices will be around then? I’d rather not lose moolah, thanks.
Got one from the local liberal rag for my year”s subscription. My check book said I paid half as much 6 months ago. Think I’ll wait for a better offer.
Magazine companies hate that their readers know how to read the label and figure out the real expiration date. I always write to the magazine that wants me to renew 5-6 month early. I always wait until I get the “This is your last issue” issue.
My mom evidently kept renewing her Reader’s Digest subscription when she’d get those notices. Due to stroke, and then death, she hasn’t been able to read it since March 2007. I’m still getting the issues! (Decided to have the address changed to mine instead of canceling it, but I’m not renewing.)
