Heh, I used to love the Three Investigators! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Investigators
In fact, I can remember being so scared by the illustration of the mummy in the Whispering Mummy that I couldn’t continue the book for a while. Was reading them too young, I guess.
Ahh, the Three Investigators. What a great series.
If you decide to re-read them, or give them to your kids, be sure to look for the early versions of the books. They were “updated” at some point, all references to Alfred Hitchcock were stripped out, and … well, suffice to say they were basically ruined.
Wasn’t there a cartoon back in the 80s or 90s that had that basic setup? I think this was drawn before Phineas & Ferb , but for the life of me, I can’t think of which cartoon it was that had a similar entrance to their “secret hideout”. :-s
My grandpa had a junkyard full of old cars, trucks, and heavy equipment. My brothers and cousins and I had numerous adventures there – exploring other planets (this was during the"space race"), fighting pirates, cops-n-robbers, etc. What a pleasant time!

First they considered “Two Investigators” as the name, and now they put the headquarters entrance in a junkyard. Now all they need is a chauffeur.

I think a Phineas & Ferb consult is in order. Danville is probably only a couple towns away.

Most guys don’t plan on having kids. That’s why the first child is usually an ‘oops’.

This reminds me of the “Three Investigators” book series I read when I was a kid.

Sorry, Craig, I didn’t read all of the comments first. What they need to do is build a robotic Alfred Hitchcock to be their framing device.

Heh, when I was a kid, I wanted to own a junkyard.

I prefer my mom’s front garden, which I get to use during the Halloween season for my decorations.

the only “three investigators” book i remember reading was “the mystery of the stuttering parrot” which was a great puzzle to solve.
