I’m not sure, Andy. Jason might also wear holes in the sidewalk.

The teachers may be counting down the hours for the opposite reason. However, Jason may be a reason for that profession.

My daughters have posted number magnets on our ‘fridge, counting down the days ’til school starts. We’re down to 4 now. Their backpacks are already set, their 1st day outfits already laid out. Everything but the pacing.

I go to a private school, and we don’t start school until the day after Labor Day, so when I see kids coming back from school before then, I secretly gloat. “Ha ha, suckers!”

Lucky duck! In Missouri, they start school long before Labor day.

Around here, kids are already back in school, although the state comptroller went on record saying the schools should open after Labor Day; he’s hoping that would put a little kick into the local economy. Good luck with that.

I’m puzzled. This is a Saturday strip, so Jason is cheering for SUNDAY SCHOOL? While I can’t read the copyright year, the date in panel 3 is 8/31. So, what’s with the Labor Day joke in panel 4? No matter what the year, I don’t recall the holiday ever being in August!
