Quite a few years ago there was a commercial where a guy picks up his blind date, opens the car door for her, and while he’s walking around to his side she lifts up on one cheek and sneakily breaks wind. He gets in the driver side and introduces her to another couple in the back seat. Of course, I have no memory whatsoever of what the commercial was for.

Odds are, if it’s THAT funny, it’s for Geico.

Say what you will about the ads of the ’50s; they made sure you remembered the brand and product.

Jeans commercials (sometimes) and perfume commercials (almost all the time) make the least sense.

I’m glad we are done with those political commercials at least for a couple of months. Now that congress is sworn in it’s time for them to start working on their re-elections.

As for the GEICO commercials, I absolutely HATE them. I do not like faked talking animals, and would love to see King Kong rise up alongside the bridge with the lizard and take him out!.Here’s a positively miserable one from the 1960s. It is unlikely you would forget the name of the product…

It’s actually pretty common for the funniest and most memorable commercials to be remembered for their content and not the product. You’d think advertisers would learn.

Currently the funniest commercials are for Poopourri. About died watching them. You can find them on YouTube.http://youtu.be/ZKLnhuzh9uY

The funniest comericial I ever saw was one for Bathroom Duck. The first time I saw it I was watching SNL and I thought it was one of their comercial skits and thought it was one of the best ones they’d ever done. Then a few days later I was watching daytime TV and it came on again. Somehow that made it even funnier.

I loved the Nissan commercials in late 90s early 2000s. GI Joe driving up to Barbie’s dream house and taking Barbie away from Ken. The dog hypnotizing his owner into taking him cruising with his buddies, and then they kick him out and hit the road to the Lowrider tune (dogs love trucks!) There are so few really great commercials any more, but Geico does about the best.
