I’ve gotten one to come back, but I ducked out of the way. How are you supposed to catch a spinning chunk of plastic rushing towards you?

Back when I lived on a farm I got my boomarang to come back, it didn’t come back to me, but it did come back and smash through the back window of my dad’s 1935 Chevy Master (he was trying to get around to restoreing it at the time and it was sitting out in the back pasture at the time. I also remember an episode of Sherlock Holmes (the British one set in modern day London) where the police were trying to find a murderer of a man who’d recently returned from Australia and Holmes pointed out that it was actually an accident where the man turned away from the authentic aborigine boomarang he’d just thrown when a car backfired and it ended up killing him when he didn’t turn back around in time.
