True, Peter has parked his rear end on the bench in baseball. However, there was an earlier strip showing Peter making a genuine effort to sharpen his athletic skills, only to find himself on a team run by a coach who was anything but athletic (the baseball coach was lazy, surly, and had a fat belly that hangs over his pants, hardly the image of a good athlete). The coach also saw little beyond his own nose, failing to observe Peter’s progress at baseball practices. As the old saying goes, there are no bad players, only bad coaches.

“I’d argue that part about losers,” said the bench-warmer.

Since there is a Peter expy within the game, he’s right about there being at least one loser.
