Everyone’s music “was good”. If you’re really lucky, other generations will think so as well.
(Although, in truth, at any one time about 98% of everything out there is somewhere between mediocre and really bad. And always was, even when you were really into it. It’s just that, occasionally, you get a gem.)
My grandson (17) loves classic rock. He “borrowed” all my classic 70’s & 80’s CD’s and we just went together to see Bohemian Rhapsody. Some kids have great taste!
The first time I bought Christmas presents for my nephew, his mother asked if it had a high “parental annoyance factor.” Remembering how his dad had tormented me when we were young, as only a little brother can do to his big brother, I just responded, “I certainly hope so.”
The only local station that plays Classical music, plays the Classical versions of Christmas music this time of year. I like Christmas music but not when they exaggerate it into something by a symphony. For some reason it just doesn’t do it for me. That’s when I switch to the only Jazz station in the area.
When my 7-yr old son was walking around with a boxed set of ‘Best of South Park’, I asked where he got it and he said “Nana gave it to me”. Sometimes, older people don’t know what they are giving kids. She told me that she just thought it was another cartoon….lol…
My parents like my music, as I was a 50s, 60s, 70’s fan and my mom and dad loved to dance. In fact, they taught me the cha cha, Lindy and all the dances of their time. I learned by leading my dad in the dance. However, in later years most guys didn’t like that. However, they did like me showing them how to do the dances they didn’t know, so a win win. The only songs that eventually drove my father nights were It’s My Partyby Leslie Gore and It’s Judy’s Turn To Cry by her! LOL

This is why kids get on so well with their grandparents … They have a common enemy.

“Chewy, Chewy” was bubblegum. “Hanky-Panky” was just brain-dead pop.

Not to your mom, and is payback time. When I grew up we listened to a country music station, was not aware of other on the radio.
