Saving samples of the camp food. That reminds me how is that hot dog someone embedded in resin doing?

People always complain about camp food. I didn’t think it was so bad. I mean, there were things I didn’t care for, but that’s because they were things I don’t normally like. I went to summer camp two years in a row and they had the same main course the first night both years. Swedish meatballs. The first time they served them with mashed potatoes and the next it was rice. Anyway, the first year when one girl heard what was for dinner she said “Just what I didn’t want.” The next year, I was telling girls I remembered the first meal and said what it was they were like “Oh, please.” I don’t know why they hated them so much. I loved them! I think that was my favorite meal.

I went to a Mission Work Camp for a week with my daughter for 3 summers. After painting and building all day, we were served a hearty meal by the sponsors … all you could eat. An hour later the teenage boys would already be hungry …

Is that a sample of “grub”?

I honestly don’t remember the food at Camp Fire Girls camp. I do remember being homesick, (first time away from home) being so embarassed showering with other girls that I showered in my swimsuit, and getting blisters on my heels from not bringing enough socks.
