I remembering having fish in an aquarium; we had it downstairs above the cats’ litter boxes… uncovered! One of the fish was once found in said box where we don’t know how it got there. Either one of the cats tried to scoop it out or the fish jumped and landed in the aforementioned unlikely place.
Soon that angelfish will be the only fish in that tank. Surprisingly few people know that angelfish are ravenous predators. If another fish is small enough to fit in the angelfish’s mouth, it will be eaten. Angelfish also grow quickly to very large size. If you like them, it’s best to keep only angelfish in the tank.
Without knowing how much the accessories and fish weigh and knowing the volume of water they displase, how full the tank is….. an accurate weight is not possible to calculate.
When placing an aquarium, taking into account the accessories, the gravel and of course the aquarium itself, figure on 10 pounds per gallon. Make sure your stand is sturdy and it’s placed exactly where you want it.
I was once reading from the slush pile, and found a play that wanted a 240-gallon fishtank on stage. That’s just short of a ton. The worst was that it had to be struck during intermission, and replaced with an identical tank full of sand, which would weight over twice as much.

Simple solution. She should announce she wants everyone to enjoy the aquarium so she’s leaving it downstairs.

Full fish tanks are extremely heavy. At least it’s not a 40-gallon tank.

5 gallons of water is about 40 pounds, so that’s 120 pounds of water, plus the tank, gravel, etc.
(Thanks for the mathlesson, dad — still using it!)

15 gallons of water is “only” about 125 pounds. The two of them could possibly get it upstairs if they were resourceful enough to prevent spilling it

“A gallon of water weighs ten pounds, a pint of pure water weighs a pound and a quarter.”This advice is free.

Learned it in fifth grade, “A pint’s a pound, the world around.” Meaning 1 gal is 8 pounds.

120 lbs. what’s a Kg? :) Must be one of those metric things where gas is so cheep only $2.50 a L. where we are stuck paying $4 a gal.
