Belgium invented the french fry. Only right-wing nut cases called them “Freedom Fries” because they were upset about the French opposition to involvement in the Iraq War. These are the same people triggered by an M&M, a Lite Beer, and Taylor Swift.

Topical humor lives on in old folks like me. I STILL listen to what Tom Paxton calls his “short shelf-life songs” from the ’60s.

I remember “Freedom fries” from when Reagan was President. But, today’s Foxtrot has a 2003 copyright date.

Did you ever think you’d look back on this mild stupidity with nostalgia? Because these days, it’s weaponized levels of stupid.

Oh yes, I remember that. I actually went along with it for a little while, I’m embarrassed to say.

The lesson learned from that stupid time in American history: never underestimate the gullibility of uninformed and poorly educated people.

This is the only time I’ve known Paige to show any political leaning. Unless she just thought it was the “in” thing to do.

fascinating to see the wrong side of history after the fact like this. I can’t wait to see how our kids will view the past 5 years we’ve been through when it’s in history class 20 years from now.
