Actually, circuses without animals, like Cirque De Soleil are doing pretty. I’m not sure why the others don’t give it a try. Yes, the animals attract some customers, but they must cost a ton. Can you imagine what it must cost to travel with six elephants and 5 lions?
There’s also no way to do that and treat the animals well, even if you’re a good-hearted person who loves them. A train car is no place for an elephant.
And speaking for myself, it’s the HUMAN acts that really impress me; the trapeze artists, and jugglers, and tightrope walkers. I can go to a zoo to see animals.
St. John Bosco knew how to walk a tightrope. He would set up his rope between two trees and walk it until he drew a crowd. And once he drew a crowd, he would preach.
