Amen. The church isn’t for the higher-ups, the church is and for everyone.

Many bishops still live in the Middle Ages, which ended a half a millennium ago. There’s no danger of a priestly class, nor any reason to interfere in secular affairs.

Bishops are supposed to be servants, not rulers protecting their turf.

And it’s usually the laity who get it right.

The 2024 American election for the presidency will be a direct referendum on the percentage of Americans who desire GOP autocracy vs the percentage of voters who hope to maintain the tradition of self-determination.

Also revealed will be the number of voters who find reasons to justify risking the loss of democracy. Many of them will state that not voting and thus losing democracy will maybe teach people (the DNC specifically) some kind of valuable lesson.

The latter group and a majority of current GOP voters are both purity ideologues.
