There is a repeated image in the Bible in which Jesus compares himself to a mother hen who desires to bring all her chicks under the protective cover of her wings.
And’ people might argue with me that the Holy Spirit is not hollering at the RC Church to allow the ordination of women. They’re so wonderful………………………………….in their place.
We have a friend whose late husband was quite mean to her. I don’t think there was physical violence, but she was tied down with a short leash because he was so jealous. She wasn’t even allowed to drive, because he was certain she was out meeting another man. When went to her pastor’s wife to ask about getting a divorce, that good lady said it was flat-out forbidden. “You need to stand up to him, show him your fist and see what he does.” First of all, Bill was morbidly obese. He could have crushed her – pushed her over and held her down and that would have been it. I questioned the “rebbetzin’s” logic. Divorce is bad, but physical violence is OK?
To my mind, marriage is a reflection of God’s relationship with his people. Cruelty, violence, suspicion have no part in it. If those things exist, then it is not a marriage.

Amen. Mother doesn’t play favorites, and won’t allow fighting.

If only the Church would and other religions would stop looking at women as second-class citizens….

And what about a FATHER’s love (as in God the Father) for his children.
Is love limited or is it renewable?
