OK I see the “chic clothing” worn by the wolf, and get that he should be dressed as a wolf in sheep’s clothing, but I can’t get a handle on the joke. It’s not a play on words (is it?) and there is no twist in meanings I can think of. Anybody?

    Chic is pronounced “sheek.”

One letter from " sheep." Honest mistake on the wolf’s part.
