    The tallest redwood is apparently about 380 ft high https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperion_(tree)Assuming the swing isn’t attached right at the top but is on a 360 ft long rope, clears the ground in the middle by 2 ft, starts from 6 ft high, and we neglect friction, the total horizontal path should be about 107 ft, but the final height would of course only be 6 ft, and most of the trip would be pretty slow. 250 ft of rope would give one a “mere” 89 ft horizontal path.

    When I was very young, my dad built a swing using two phone poles. We couldn’t get the swing to work! Trajectory was too flat or something. We finally put one end of a ladder on the seat and made it go sideways.
