Presumably, American board erasers are not made of wooden blocks, like British blackboard rubbers were, which were hard, with corners and weighed about a pound?

No more blackboards even in most Sri Lankan school now. Its whiteboard and marker pens. Kids don’t know about chalk fights or eraser fights now. :-(
