Frazz by Jef Mallett for July 13, 2011
Transcript:
Coach Hacker: But Frazz! I had a lousy weekend! When do we go to Nashville? Frazz: Hacker, it's not like you have a traumatic experience and a hit song pops out! Coach Hacker: It's not? Frazz: You have to have a trauma that rhymes. Caulfield: Way to harsh his mellow, cruel fellow.

One of my favorite songs rhymes the words “mellow” and “fellow”.
I like beer, it makes me a jolly good fellow
I like beer, it helps me unwind and sometimes it makes me feel mellow

I like Frazz, but I find this series of strips with coach Hacker a little less than amusing.

And as the tears…Welled in her eyes…I went out drinkin’…..With the guys….That’s why she was inside packin’….While I was outside weedy wackin’….

I’m sure Caulfield has harshed Coach’s mellow much more effectively and much more frequently than Frazz.

This is the second time I’ve ever seen “harsh” as a verb. Yesterday on some TV show was the first.
I harsh, you harsh, he/she/it harshes, we shall have harshed.
“Harshen” as a verb is in my Amer. Herit. Dict., 4th Ed., but I’ve heard it exactly never, and it doesn’t mean the same.
