LOL @Lew — actually, here in almost-but-not-quite coastal Northern California, tomato season is just starting.
I have some now, and I’ll have lots in a couple of weeks.
Tomatoes from the hot Central Valley have been available since late May at the farmer’s market, but are winding down.
Mine will ripen on into October and the first big rains — and beyond, but not so tasty.
Sometimes I even get a few barely edible ones for Thanksgiving.
Few freezes around here till late December, though fall rainstorms wreak damage.
So every September, I try to shield my poor plants from the knowledge that some people say it’s Autumn.
