Ok, not getting this one. The items in his hand are unidentifiable. And who put the cactus on the swing, him or the girl with a twisted sense of humor?
I interpreted them as buffer pads, too. Although, looking at them, and after reading comments, I can see saw blades, too. The saw blades would be funnier, with the helmet comment. Kids do weird and dangerous things and don’t even think about it.
In Europe and Canada you see people commuting to work by bicycle, and NOBODY is wearing a helmet. Somehow in the US it has become a universal requirement for any activity more active than walking in the mall.
The alternative would be a mom asking “If your friends skateboarded off a cliff would you do that too?” and the kid saying “Of course! And I’d post the video right after!” Hey, the girl shouldn’t be drumming, she should have her cellphone out for the shoot!
A favorite of mine was throwing Lawn Darts (you know the BIG ones, with the steel heads) into a Pitch-Back and dodging/deflecting them on the return flight. Great for the old eye-hand co-ordination!
Somebody videorecord him so they can put him on MTV’s “Ridiculousness.” I’m sure they are buffing pads. If they were saws, they’d be silver. Hey kid, when you’re done with those, may I borrow them to buff my automobile? That swing seat is rather high, isn’t it? As for Americans wearing helmets, there is a discrepancy between how the media portrays it and actual use. Media advocates get upset if you don’t portray fictional characters wearing helmets.
American’s don’t wear helemts enough, less than half of MOTERCYCLISTS do in states that don’t require it and in those that do, well I can say in Nevada, they’re trying to institue a law that if you take a saftey class you can be “certified” to NOT wear one……
Ok, now on second look, the one in his right hand definitely looks like a buffer pad, and not a saw blade. I can understand that these would be difficult things to draw though.
@Dutch Uncle: my kid was in a bike accident where she landed on her head, broke her helmet and there was still enough force going that then she broke her shoulder. If she hadn’t had that helmet on she wouldn’t be here. Wear helmets.
I think this is a variation on a Herman cartoon. Herman shows up in hockey gear with a hockey stick through his chest, and his wife says, “I told you to wear a helmet!”
I think they are saw blades. If you compare the right hand to the left, I think he’s holding three of them altogether, which would imply he’s planning to juggle them.

Ok so take away the saw blades and let him fly. The cactus swing at the end looks promising.

I think Alexikakos is right about the floor polisher pads. They’d be just right for snatching the cactus from the swing.

The pads are so he can put his hands against the sides without slowing him down as he rides the skateboard.

Taking the buffer pads would tend to attract Frazz’s attention.

Love the drumsticks. It will be much more dramatic with a drum roll.
