Boy: They've been playing Christmas music for a couple of weeks now. They'll play it four more. That's, like, 10% of the year. How is 10% of anything special? My dad spend 10% of his Saturdays in the bathroom.
Frazz: Thanks. That was special.

As much as I love Christmas music, the kid has a point; personally, I never start playing it until after Thanksgiving.

Let’s see, 24 × 60 = 1440. So dad spens 14.4 minutes in the bathroom on Saturdays. I don’t think dad showers on Saturdays.

In my neck of the woods, Christmas decorations went up the day after halloween as well as the fencing for the tree lots (but not the music just yet – thank the maker). I wondered when it would come to that. Thanksgiving just gets in the way, now.

I was clothes shopping the other day (pre-Black Friday though) and the background music included “Santa Baby” — but not Madonna, not Eartha Kitt — but a MALE singer. It was weird.

After all of the hype that starts earlier every year, December 26 ends up feeling like a spiritual hangover.

Remember the saying…when you see Christmas decorations in the stores…Thanksgiving is almost here!

So many radio stations start playing Christmas music well before Thanksgiving—and then chop it off right after the 25th, with eleven days of the Christmas season left to go. Why the bleep they can’t taper them in, and then taper them out is beyond me.
