So the smell of cookies is going to remind him of panic and failure in the future?

I knew a guy in college that had a different flavor of candy for each class. He’d suck on a candy while studying or doing his homework, and again at test time. He swore by it. His grades were decent enough, but I wouldn’t call it definitively true.

I’ve never heard anything about “Italy 2004” and espresso’s effects on memory or recall. I don’t see any results come up in searches either.

I don’t know. For 20 or more years after I quit smoking I would dream about it and could smell cigarette smoke in my dream. Maybe not the same thing though.

The smell of the binding of a certain book always brings back memories to me, as it smells the same as a book I my parents read to me when I was 4.

Does anyone else have a smell that brings back old memories?

I’m old enough to remember my test papers smelling like mimeograph ink, and later, ditto duplicating fluid. For years after school if I came within smelling distance with either aroma, I would have flashbacks to my school years. Now, since neither is used anymore, I haven’t experienced it in a long time.

Madeleines. Marcel Proust. Problem: I can’t remember the recipe.

47 years later and the smell of apples takes me back to kindergarten. We always had cut up apples at snack time. Probably adding to that was the fact that my teacher, Mrs. Tucker, was so nice.

“I took that as his plan.”-——————————-Dang — you and Scoonz are absolutely correct — I missed the point of the joke by misreading the blackboard. I saw it as “test today” and overlooked that it was “test review today.” My bad. The cartoon makes a lot more sense now. Maybe I should have been eating a cookie when I first read it.

No mention about the rules regarding homemade baked goods? Though I must say, it’s worth a shot.
