Frazz by Jef Mallett for November 09, 2016
Transcript:
Girl: Gray day. Good thing Frazz gave me an anti-depressant. Mr. Spaetzle: WHAT? Girl: "Take me to the river" by Al Green. Mr. Spaetzle: Good. Maybe he can prescribe something to calm me down. Girl: I'm not sure he listens to that kind of music as much.

He had good reason to fear if the custodian is giving out medications. But of course it is reading.

Haven’t listened to Al Green in years, I’ve already downloaded it. Not sure if it will help but today of all days it couldn’t hurt.

“I just want to celebrate, another day of livin’.Put my faith in the people, and the people let me down. Now I turn the other way,and carry on anyhow.”—Rare Earth
And I sing the same song regardless of who won the election, ’cause we the people all lost.

The ONLY people benefitting from Trump’s victory are named Trump. Good luck!

Take Me To the River is a great song but my favorite version is by the Commitments. If you like the song, YouTube their version of it.

I was surprised to learn that there was an Al Green version of the song. The only one I knew was by The Talking Heads.

In the late 70s I was working in a Tower Records store; I played Mott the Hoople’s version of ‘Sweet Jane’ and my co-workers were confused: the only version they knew was Lou Reed’s. Understandable in general, but a 1978 record store clerk should have known both.
