It’s not the India Indians, it’s the non-India Indians.

Wish we could switch places with India here in Georgia. That way, these fires will be gone.

Indians vs ‘East Indians’ when I was growing up. Or, as the Brits say—or said—‘Indians vs Red Indians.’

I still like the term, though, although there are those who consider it very non PC. I don’t know why: it’s a beautiful time that the new settlers assumed the local ‘savages’ enjoyed and benefitted from. (Yes, I know: ‘savages’ is terribly un-PC. It’s a period term.)

Actually, we’re coming up on Australian summer. Not quite the same thing but it keeps the planet in balance.

Definition of Indian Summer: The US National Weather Service defines this as weather conditions that are sunny and clear with above normal temperatures, occurring late-September to mid-November. The weather either IS or IS NOT Indian Summer. To say it is LIKE Indian Summer is as if to say a full moon is LIKE a full moon.

I understand it is phrased that way to set up the disruption, however a teacher would never make such an obvious mistake. (If it is apparent to me it has to be obvious).

Thank goodness for the kids who are able to skillfully distract teachers so as not to disturb the naps of their fellow students.

A line I heard in BC: “When they say West Indian, you don’t know whether they mean Pakistan, Jamaica, or the Charlottes.”
