Real grape juice from grapes on the vine ferments FAST. Something like Welch’s has ascorbic acid added to prevent fermentation, and is way more likely to just go bad instead of fermenting.
My dad used to joke that he liked his martinis so dry he just showed the gin a picture of a bottle of vermouth. Most boxes of “Grape Juice” have never even been shown what a grape looks like. “Better living through Chemistry!” (with apologies to Monsanto.)
We are a people who prefer our answers concise and definitive, even if vague answers are more accurate.
What? How’s that? How can something vague be more accurate than something precise? Let’s illustrate it with a story problem:
“If AT&T tells you their installer will arrive sometime between 10AM and 4PM, and Comcast tells you their guy will be there precisely at 9:30AM, and they both arrive precisely at 3:55, what the hell were you thinking exposing yourself to twice as many high-pressure sales pitches to upgrade the TV package?”
I hope that helps.Frazz by Jef Mallett for Nov 9, 2017 | GoComics.com
During my college freshman winter term, the grape juice in the dining hall dispenser was fermenting. My friend didn’t believe it until I had someone at the table smell it.

A box of “grape juice” will never be grape juice let alone wine.

It’ll turn into vinegar, but would you want to put it on your chips?
