    Easily resolved. Donate your money but insist that it be earmarked for something you approve of. College alumni and development offices will be delighted to comply.

    Not sure how things work in the U.S. but for me the concept of making donations to institutions that are heavily subsidized by taxpayers (universities, hospitals) is just weird. Reasonable user fees and a decent tax based operating budget should be available to run the places. I know it’s hard for these institutions to make ends meet but they shouldn’t have to beg to keep going.
