It’s Duck™ tape, a brand name that has come, from common usage, to mean that whole category of tape products. It was first used during WW II to seal ammo cans, so I’m told.
Real “duct” tape, these days, is a layer of thin aluminum bonded to a very stick layer that is in turn protected by a waxy layer that can be pulled off the stickum.
