I imagine that they’re mostly concerned with predator / prey calculations and food. For a particularly… low… form of “concern”.

I think they wonder why humans are destroying the biosphere and causing so many species to go extinct!

There are quite a few species of bird that might also wonder what it’s like to fly—and why they gave up.

They probably wonder most about how to avoid being crushed, sprayed, or basically eradicated by a species that seems to crowd out every space they once called theirs.

Why are these kids always hanging out with a school employee instead of their own parents?

Why do some snakes think they can fly? I would LOVE to see one!

A lot of bugs and butterflies tend to “land” on the windshields of my car, truck, and Harley. Occasionally, a bird will dive bomb my car/truck… it does not end well for them.

“Scientists have collected locusts flying at heights of 14,764 feet (4,500 m); true bugs, stoneflies, mayflies, and caddisflies at altitudes over 16,404 feet (5,000 m); and flies and butterflies over 19,685 feet (6,000 m), according to Michael Dillon, a researcher with the Department of Zoology and Physiology at the University of Wyoming.”

As usual, everyone responds to the child’s question, ignoring the meta-question raised by Frazz, “What is imagination?”, and “Are humans the only species that can do it?”. Discuss.

For extra credit, name three other “comic strips” that regularly raise such philosophical issues.

We Bene Gesserit sift people to find the humans. What if it were as simple as finding those that imagine and wonder?
