Yes, I know, Frazz is encouraging him to learn some obscure words under a guise of rebellion. And I expect it’s a better way to come to love words than vocabulary lists. But will he fall for it?
I don’t understand vocabulary tests in the mother tongue. I totally get the list of the most common 1.000 words when you’re at learning a new language. But still: as a German with some knowledge of English and a little French (these 1.000 words and some) I just read some English book or French news article and then look up the words I not yet know. Maybe look up the etymology.
