Has anyone here ever actually seen a dog bury a bone?

Our dog never buried a bone that I know of, but once she got hold of a roast beef that was on the counter, thawing, and my brother forgot to push the chair in when he left. She ate a lot of it and buried the rest of it between the arm of the counch and the cushion in that space where you can reach your hand down almost to the floor. Another time she got a box of devil dogs. We found shreds of box all over but no DD. Each one was individually wrapped and when my dad went to bed he found them in his bed wrappings still intact, covered over with the blanket. We never figured out how she got the blanket over them and there was not a tooth mark in any of the wrappings. We figured she must have carried them up one at a time.

How can a dog find the bone burying in the ground? Smell sensitive! Smart!

I had a dog that buried bones. She would take them outside and come back in with her nose and paws covered in dirt. A few weeks later, I would find the bone on the patio well-gnawed and dirt stained. I only got to watch her bury her bone once, though - she was sneaky.

Why do dogs start digging holes in random places w/o anything to burry?
