Fred would prefer a rousing rendition of ‘my dog has fleas”

few notes, appropriate lyrics, easy to dance to…

One is a solo, two a duet, three make a cacophony. (Horrid noise)

I think Salieri, said that about Mozart, at least in the movie.

Just for the record, you can find the FRED strip for MONDAY, AUGUST 23 at the Houston Chronicle. I won’t post a link because it seems like - every time someone posts information about how to find the comics which go missing at Go Comics, someone comes along and removes them all. However, the shortened version of the link for the HOUSTON CHRONICLE is www.chron.com

I grew up reading Fred Basset old school in the newspaper. Now, in the digital age, I catch him online. I have three bassets, so Fred Basset is one of my favorite cartoon strips. Not anymore. I think I’m probably going to stop coming here to read the strip if it can’t update properly.

I saw Fred in the Daily Mail today whilst waiting for my car to be MOT’d. The DM is paper where the strip originates, so presumably definitive - and its not the same as what the Houston Chronicle has. They go on holiday to stay in a farm cottage and Fred meets a friendly sheepdog called Shep.

Wonder when/if it will turn up here? I don’t usually read the DM (dreadful rag, apart from Fred), so I don’t know how far the US is adrift.

Okay. I’m out. As Murrow said, “Good night and good luck.” bye-bye, Fred Basset, it’s been wonderful.
