Why do they still put the food in his reach? They are like my mother…

For a short legged dog, he seems has no problem stealing from high places. (Such is life in a comics strip…)

Basset’s are long, long dogs. I have 3, one easily gets everything on the counters, one claims the table, the other is a very good boy and does none of that!

I had a bassett that alway ate bread and donuts. No matter how far back on the counter I put them she always managed to hide them in her jowls. When found she would look just like Fred and say “donut what donut?”

Urrrp. Whoops. Fred lad may not be as guilty as charged. It needed a tad more paprika.

Burnside217: I had the same problem with Judge Parker today. How does a skunk get on a bed when its vertical jump is less than a foot and its claws are for digging, not climbing. Granted, a basset’s length helps, but they can’t stretch that far and have only double the skunk’s vertical jump.

Fred’s a BIG basset. He can reach anything within 18" of the edge of a standard table or counter.

When I returned home from Vietnam (in 1967), I swore that if anyone suggested going camping, I would hit them upside the head with whatever was near!!!
