The trolley makes sense in Britain, but where did the American-style coach come from? Are the old ones gone like £sd, Whiteleys, the Clark factory in Street, “One Man and His Dog”, and the Liberal Party?

What do you mean, ‘American style coach’? Most UK train carriages have looked like this for many decades.
You can find old compartment-style carriages on preserved steam railways if you really want to live in the past.
